Guwahati girl felicitated in Nepal for Solo Scooty Ride promoting ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Mission’
19-year-old martial arts athlete Ashmita Paul, who hails from Pandu in Guwahati, was met with warm felicitations upon reaching Jhapa, Nepal, on the culmination of her solo two-wheeler ride expedition from Guwahati.
Supported by the women and child development department of the Assam government, Ashmita’s ride was flagged by Kamrup Metro district social welfare officer Santosh Kutum in Guwahati on March 23.
Her journey served not only as a test of courage and resilience but also as a powerful advocate for the “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao” mission, which champions girls’ education and empowerment in India.
Ashmita’s arrival in Jhapa on April 1 marked the successful conclusion of her solo ride. Residents and the Koshi Province Hon’ble MLA Gopal Tamang accorded her a hero’s welcome, recognizing her bravery and dedication to promoting girls’ education and women’s empowerment.
The felicitation ceremony was a testament to the impact her ride has created, raising awareness about the “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Mission” across borders.
MLA Tamang said: “Ashmita Paul’s daring solo two-wheeler ride serves as a potent symbol of women’s empowerment. Her journey serves as an inspiration to women across borders, demonstrating the potential for social impact through individual initiative.”
Ashmita covered an estimated distance of 2,500 km, in her ride which was not only a test of her physical endurance but also a platform to advocate for women’s rights and the importance of girl children’s education.
