Guwahati Refinery conducts tuberculosis screening camp for contractor workers
In observance of World Tuberculosis Day on March 24 and as part of the Mission TB Mukt IndianOil Parivar, Guwahati Refinery, in collaboration with the District TB Cell, Kamrup Metro, organized a tuberculosis screening camp for contractor workers at its unit. The initiative aligns with Indian Oil’s goal of eradicating tuberculosis from its workforce by 2025.
The camp was inaugurated by Sunil Kanti, Executive Director & Refinery Head, Guwahati Refinery, in the presence of senior officials. In his address, Kanti emphasized the importance of early screening and proper nutrition in combating tuberculosis. He assured that Guwahati Refinery would extend full support to any worker diagnosed with TB following the screening.

The screening program featured a talk by District TB officials from Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi Chest Hospital, Kamrup (M), led by Guruprasad Goswami. He elaborated on the significance of surveillance, early detection, and the various government schemes available for TB patients, reinforcing the importance of proactive healthcare measures.
During the program, all attendees took a TB pledge to raise awareness about prevention and eradication. Sputum samples were collected from 53 workers for testing, and around 100 contractor workers participated in the screening process.
This initiative is part of the 100-day campaign launched by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoH&FW) on December 7, 2024, aimed at eliminating tuberculosis. As part of this campaign, Guwahati Refinery Hospital has been conducting multiple TB awareness programs targeting employees, contractor workers, school students, the general public, and CISF personnel stationed at the refinery. The refinery remains committed to supporting TB eradication efforts and promoting a healthier workforce.
