HBDRF confident that ongoing border talks will ensure retransferring back of Block I & II

Chairman of Hynñiewtrep Border Dispute Redressal Forum (HBDRF) Chandame Sungoh said April 13 will always be remembered as a sad day for the Khasi-Pnar people of Block I and II.
In a statement, Sungoh said it was on this day in the year of 1951 that the thence Assam government had forcefully tagged the Labang Nangphyllut Dollloiship known as Block -I and part of Raid Nangtung Khyrwang known as Block-II and demarcated to the thence United Cachar & Mikirs Hills now Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council of Assam during the creation of the District Councils by its Notification No TAD / R/ 31/ 50/ 149.
“This Notification was done by the high – handed of the Assam government without the knowledge and consent of the Khasi Pnar people, who are the origin and the founder of the land. And this act has been totally deprived the right and justice of the citizens of this area.”
He said the Forum and the people of the area will continue to strongly oppose this act of injustice by the Assam government and they are still struggling to re-transfer and re-unite this part of land to the mainland of their forefathers to the State of Meghalaya.
The Forum has expressed confidence that through the ongoing border settlement between the State of Meghalaya and Assam the long pending demand for retransferring of block I & II to Meghalaya will be considered.
