HC defers hearing on coal scam to March 2
The division bench of the Meghalaya High Court has again deferred the hearing on the petition filed by the state government against the order of the Lokayukta for instituting a CBI probe into the alleged coal scam.
During the hearing on Wednesday, in the course of argument when confronted with various pleadings making allegations against one Abdul Ahad Chaudhary, the Advocate General (AG), A Kumar has sought time to file appropriate application to implead him as party respondent.
In view of this, the hearing was adjourned to March 2.
Earlier, the government in its affidavit had contested that the direction to institute a CBI probe is beyond the jurisdiction of the anti-graft body. The order of the Lokayukta was also passed following a complaint filed by one Abhijit Basumatary.
