HC stays DC, BDO orders to dissolve Kyrdem VEC
The Single bench of the Meghalaya High Court has stayed the orders issued by the Deputy Commissioner of Ri Bhoi and the Bhoirymbong Block Development Officer (BDO) related to the Kyrdem village employment council (VEC).
“Till next date, there shall be stay to the impugned orders dated 16-07- 2020 and 28-08-2020 issued by the Deputy Commissioner, Ri-Bhoi District, and Block Development Officer, Bhoirymbong…,” Justice Ranjit More said in his order passed on Friday.
A petition was filed by Pynhunlang Mawroh challenging the two orders.
The Deputy Commissioner in her order has directed the Block Development Officer to take over the roles, functions and responsibilities of Kyrdem VEC.
The BDO has taken over those responsibilities and consequently the Kyrdem VEC was dissolved.
The petitioner said that before passing the impugned order, neither showcause notice nor principle of natural justice was followed though he was the Chairman of the VEC.
