HDR Lyngdoh quits Congress, to soon join UDP
Senior Congress leader and former home minister HDR Lyngdoh on Wednesday decided to quit the party ahead of 2023 Assembly elections.
Speaking to media persons, Lyngdoh, a former Sohiong legislator, said he has taken this decision because his supporters wanted him to contest from other political parties.
Recent reports have cited that Lyngdoh would soon join the UDP.
When asked, Lyngdoh said it is high time that the people of the state give a chance to regional parties.
“It is also time that the state has a chief minister from Khasi-Jaintia Hills,” he added.
