Health Minister inaugurates Covid hospital at Umsawli

Health Minister Alexander Laloo Hek on Monday inaugurated the COVID Step Down Hospital at Umsawli.

The bed capacity of the COVID hospital is 100. However, the minister has inaugurated 50 beds of which 25 are allotted for males and 25 for females.

“The inauguration of this COVID step down hospital of the Shillong civil hospital will lessen the burden on both the government and private hospitals,” Hek told reporters.

He said the COVID hospital will cater to the positive cases falling under the categories A, B and C.

According to him, admission of patients will start from today onwards.

Asked, the minister informed that the other 50 beds will be ready within a week’s time.
