Health Minister inaugurates Loomkyrwiang Urban Health Center at Jowai
Minister of Health & Family Welfare, Dr. Mazel Ampareen Lyngdoh, on Friday inaugurated the Loomkyrwiang Urban Health Centre. Also present were Jowai Legislator and Chairman of Meghalaya Urban Development Authority, Wailadmiki Shylla; Deputy Commissioner cum Chairman District Health Society, West Jaintia Hills, B.S Sohliya, IAS; District Medical & Health Officer, Dr. Evalyneda B V Laloo; and President of Kur Soo Kpoh Khadar Wyrnai, Dolloi Elaka Jowai, Puramon Kynjing.
Speaking at the inaugural function Dr. Ampareen extended her deepest gratitude to the Kur Soo Kpoh Khadar Wyrnai for their generosity towards donating the land for the construction of this Urban health Centre which in turn has benefited all members of the community. The Urban Health center has been providing essential healthcare service to everyone.
She also mentioned that inaugurating the health center on the International Women’s Day adds a special significance to the occasion symbolizing a commitment to the health and well-being of women in the community.
Dr. Ampareen, the Minister of Health also emphasized on the importance of empowering women through access to quality health care services. Furthermore she stated that we celebrate women’s achievement and contributions that aligns with the theme “Invest in Women, accelerate Progress” she emphasises the need to support and provide opportunities for women empowerment should be a priority rather than just offering sympathy or attention.
The Health Minister encouraged and urged the staff nurse to focus on adolescent health, especially teenage girls by addressing their unique healthcare needs and providing guidance, education, medical attention tailored to their age group. By focusing on the specific challenges and concerns faced by teenage girls such as reproductive health, and mental wellbeing .
The health minister has also urged the pharmacies to ensure medicines are not in short supply within the center and to indent on time when facing shortages.
Local MLA Wailadmiki Shylla, Deputy Commissioner BS Sohliya and President Kur Soo Kpoh Khadar Wyrnai and Dolloi Elaka Jowai Puramon Kynjing also spoke on the occasion.
