Health Minister inaugurates PMR Centre
Health Minister Dr M. Ampareen inaugurated the PMR or Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Shillong on Saturday.
Speaking at the programme, the minister appreciated the efforts made by the Managing Director Lahunlang Sohliya of PMR and has extended support to the Center as well and try to help less unfortunate ones.
Expressing gratitude for being a part of the game-changing programme, she said, “And if I can save more lives, more people, more hearts. More human beings. Let’s do it. Forget that. I have a minister Forget everything else. We have to work on this.”
She expressed her appreciation to people – Iarapborlang Chyne and Nikita Sawian who despite their disabilities gave their testimonies of victory, hope. Chyne lost his limbs following an accident at work when he stepped on a wire while Sawian faced spinal injury after an accident.

PMR is a specialty which aims at empowering a
person with a disability. It focuses on the restoration of function to the highest possible level, through a multidisciplinary team approach.
The PMR Centre focuses on the rehabilitation in the fields of Neuro rehabilitation, Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation, pain and Palliative care, Paediatric Rehabilitation,
Geriatric Rehabilitation, Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation, Sports Rehabilitation.
The MD of the PMR Center Lahunlang Sohliya said she has been fascinated with people on wheelchairs and learnt a lot from her patients in her experience as a doctor in her specialised field.
