Health Minister satisfied with Tura Medical College work
Health and Family Welfare Minister James PK Sangma inspected the Tura Medical College construction site on Friday. The objective of the inspection was to review the progress of the construction work that is being carried out and to examine any concerns that may pose as a hindrance to the completion of the project.
Sangma was accompanied by Dr. Aman Warr, Director of Health Services, Rakesh Sangma, Chairman of the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) and other officials of the Health Department.
The Minister expressed his satisfaction with the progress so far and said that the Health Department and the State Government are working very hard to ensure that the Medical College is made operational soon.
“Healthcare and the medical field have grown into a multi-faceted branch with many specializations and focus areas. For too long, our bright young minds, with the aim to become professionals in the medical field, have had to seek admission in medical colleges in different states outside Meghalaya. Having a fully functional medical college in the State will not only boost the morale of our youth but will also bring us to be amongst the States having our very own medical college.” Sangma said.
The Minister also held a review meeting with various health officials at Tura Circuit House on various health-related schemes that are available.
Sangma said, “I want to assure that the Health Department and the State Government are working hard to make sure all necessary health-related schemes are made available to the citizens of the State. The schemes will aid the people during medical emergencies so they do not face any obstacle while seeking medical treatment for themselves or their families.”
