Health workers in Ri Bhoi with no salary for 8 months, govt releases Rs 14 lakh
The state government has released Rs 14 lakh for clearing the pending salary of casual workers of the health department in Ri Bhoi district.
This came after the casual workers had recently threatened to stage an indefinite strike from August 1, as a mark of protest against the government’s failure to release their salary for over eight months.
“The government has released Rs 14 lakh so far (to clear the pending dues of the casual workers),” Director of Health Services (MI) Dr Aman War told reporters on Saturday.
Dr War informed that a similar problem was also reported from West Khasi Hills. “We will take up with the government to resolve this issue,” he added.
