Heart ailments high in West Jaintia Hills, says Health City Hospital Specialist

The Health City Hospital, Guwahati in collaboration with District Early Intervention Centre, Jowai under the Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK) organised a Free Screening Congenital Heart Disease at Panaliar Jowai on Tuesday for West Jaintia Hills District and on Wednesday for East Jaintia Hills District.
Dr. Saurabhi Das who is the Director of Pediatric Cardiology of Health City Hospital Khanapara Guwahati informed that an MOU is signed between Health City Hospital and the Government of Meghalaya for providing free of cost of treatment for heart ailments to all children registered under RBSK.
Dr. Das said cases are being categorized into two one urgent operation and the other which they can come slowly.
Director of Pediatric Cardiology informed they already diagnosed around 20 to 25 children after just screening 40 children.


Underlining that the incidence of health ailments is very high, Dr Das said it is like every 50% of the children whom they are screening are having this diagnosis right now.
Dr. Das informed that 122 children attended the camp out of which 61 children required treatment and those who require follow check up are ten while 51 of them are without ailments.
