Hek inaugurates PHC at Bataw village
Health & Family Welfare Minister AL Hek has inaugurated the Bataw Primary Health Centre (PHC) at Bataw village in East Jaintia Hills District on February 22.
Addressing on the occasion, Hek said that the PHC will be a blessing for the village as its presence will make health care services more accessible for the people especially the women of the village. He further said that people should take advantage of all the health facilities available in the PHC. He also highlighted on the state and central schemes and benefits available for women which included financial help and medical support for the first ante-natal check-up until the time of delivery in government health institutions.
Speaking on the importance and the benefits of Meghalaya Health Insurance Scheme (MHIS), he urged the people to enroll themselves into the scheme as it will improve the quality of health services and also reduce the expenditure on healthcare and medical expenses.
Social Welfare Minister, Kyrmen Shylla in his speech urged all the Medical officials, staffs and medical field workers to give their sincere commitment and to lend their much needed help and support in order to ensure quality and accessible health care facilities to the people.
Others present during the inauguration programme include, Vivekanand Singh, Superintendent of Police, East Jaintia Hills District, Dr. A. War, Director of Health Service (MI), Meghalaya, Shillong, Dr. (Mrs). J. Lakiang, District Medical and Health Officer, East Jaintia Hills, Khliehriat, Bhalang Suchiang, Local Headman, Bataw, Skhembor Shadap, President, South Border Youth Welfare Association and the medical officers of the district.
