Hek inaugurates veterinary dispensary at Samanda
Meghalaya Minister for Animal Husbandry and Veterinary, Fisheries, Printing and Stationery, etc., AL Hek, accompanied by the Minister for PHE, Soil and Water Conservation, Housing, etc., Marcuise N. Marak, inaugurated the new office building of the Samanda Veterinary Dispensary at Samanda in the presence of East Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner Vibhor Aggarwal, Superintendent of Police SA Rynjah, Director of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Dr. CD Sangma, and other dignitaries on 4 October 2024.
Inaugurating the dispensary, Hek said that the functioning of the dispensary will be very important to the people of the region and that the officials of the veterinary department will be responsible for providing facilities to the livestock farmers. While highlighting the benefits of the dispensary, the minister urged the veterinary officials to perform effectively.
The guest of honor of the occasion, Marcuise N. Marak, urged the villagers and livestock farmers to come forward and avail themselves of the facilities provided by the newly constructed dispensary and to consult the veterinary officials so that better healthcare can be provided to domestic animals. He also informed the gathering that an abattoir will soon be constructed in Williamnagar.
East Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner Vibhor Aggarwal, while highlighting the facilities of the veterinary dispensary, urged the livestock farmers to take advantage of the opportunities provided by the concerned department.
Delivering the keynote address, Director of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Dr. CD Sangma informed that the dispensary was constructed at a cost of Rs. 1.72 crores with funding from NABARD under RIDF for the year 2021-2022.
Earlier, the welcome address was delivered by the Joint Director of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Dr. AM Momin, and the vote of thanks was proposed by the District Veterinary Officer, Williamnagar, Dr. RD Arengh.
