Hek inspects setting up of COVID prefab structure at Lawmali
Health Minister AL Hek on Wednesday informed that the setting up of the prefab structure for COVID hospital at Lawmali will be completed within 3 months.
After conducting an inspection to the site, Hek told reporters that the prefab structure is set up as part of the government’s preparation for the third wave of COVID-19 pandemic.
He informed that earlier there has been some resentment expressed by the local dorbar shnong. “However, today we have met and made them understand that the prefab structure is urgently required,” Hek said.
According to him, the 100-bedded COVID hospital will also have a pediatric ward for catering to the children. Work is being carried out on a war footing, Hek said adding the prefab structure would be completed within 90 days.
Meanwhile, the health minister was also one of the recipients of the COVID-19 awards presented by the Governor Satya Pal Malik at Raj Bhavan. The function was organized by the Rotary Club, Shillong.
Hek said the award was presented as a mark of recognizing the services rendered during the ongoing COVID pandemic.
He said the other recipients of the award include Secretary Matsiewdor War Nongbri, DHS (MI) Dr Aman War, Ri Bhoi DC RM Kurbah and East Khasi Hills DC Isawanda Laloo.
