Hek says law will take its own course of action into arrest of BJP MDC
BJP national executive member and former cabinet minister AL Hek on Monday said he does not see any “political vendetta” into the recent arrest of the party’s state vice president Bernard N Marak for allegedly running a brothel at his private farm house in West Garo Hills District.
“The matter is under investigation so let the law take its own course of action…and whatever decision that will come we have to accept,” Hek said.
The Pynthorumkhrah MLA said, “I don’t see any political vendetta. This is because they have been arrested and the investigation is on. Now we cannot say anything whether it is political vendetta against anyone or against the BJP. It is too early to ascertain this at present.”
Marak had claimed to have become a personal threat to the Chief Minister in the upcoming 2023 assembly elections.
When asked, Hek said, “We are all elected representatives. If we think anybody is a threat can we become vindictive to anyone, that is not a question of vindictiveness, that is a question of threat, why threat, tell me, law enforcement agency is there, they are investigating and will take their own course of action. So wait for the law enforcement agency to take their own course of action.”
Meanwhile, Hek strongly condemned the harassment of party workers by the Tura police stations.
“Of course we will definitely demand for an independent inquiry. But one thing we do not like is the harassment of our party workers in Tura police station, which is inhumane which is unacceptable even by common citizens also. Why do we have to harass innocent people, why do you have to call them at 1 o’clock and when coming to the police station and you tell them to come tomorrow that kind of harassment is not acceptable. I condemn this harassment against our party workers,” he said.
Hek said that the BJP and NPP are still working together.
“We are together (in the MDA). However, when we go to the field before the election, we will have our own manifesto, we will have our own agenda and we will fight each other. That is simple logic there is nothing to hide here,” he stated.
