Hek says there is nothing wrong to demand for smaller states

BJP leader and cabinet minister AL Hek on Wednesday said there is nothing wrong in demanding for smaller states.
“Garo also wants Garoland and Khasis also wants Khasiland so what is wrong to ask for a small state. Is there anything wrong to ask for small state? There is no problem at all,” Hek told reporters.
He was replying to a query on the statement made by (L) Purno Agitok Sangma in regards to smaller states.
The BJP leader however refused to comment on the tussle between former Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh and chief minister Conrad K Sangma over the Manipur situation.
Singh while accusing Meghalaya CM Conrad K Sangma of interfering in Manipur’s internal affairs, had written in his social media post: “The late Shri PA Sangma once advocated for dividing the Northeast into smaller states along ethnic lines, a dangerous idea that threatened the unity of our nation Today, we are seeing similar attempts to interfere in Manipur’s internal affairs to destabilise the state”.
“I dont have to say anything about the tussle between A or B. I am only for the interest of the people and the state of Meghalaya,” Hek said.
Asked, Hek said that the tussle is not between the BJP and the NPP.
“That is not between NPP and BJP but I have nothing to say in regards to the tussle between two persons, “he concluded.
