Hello Meghalaya OTT platform announces new content soon
Meghalayan Age Limited’s Chief Administrative Officer has announced the upcoming release of exclusive new content on the Hello Meghalaya OTT platform, launched in July. Despite certain media reports questioning its success, the platform has garnered significant popularity, with over 2 lakh downloads and substantial user engagement since its inception.
In a statement, the officer emphasized the unique nature of Hello Meghalaya as an initiative to uplift local content creators and filmmakers. The platform has reportedly seen a total of 37 million views, with an average user watch time of 4 hours and 30 minutes, surpassing engagement levels on other social media platforms. “With 2,000 active users every 30 minutes, it’s clear the platform resonates with the citizens,” he added.
To keep the content fresh and engaging, the Government has outlined plans to introduce new films, web series, podcasts, and entertainment shows, while continuously working to optimize streaming quality, mobile data usage, and navigation. A new feature allowing content creators to register and monitor their performance analytics will also be rolled out in the coming weeks, currently in its final testing phase.
Hello Meghalaya aims to provide a one-stop platform for local content, including classic films that may otherwise be inaccessible. Addressing recent concerns over older content also available on YouTube, the officer explained that the platform’s mission includes conserving cinematic heritage and providing the newer generation a glimpse into Meghalaya’s film landscape.
The platform has also successfully trialed live broadcasts of events such as the Durand Cup and Sohra Half Marathon, drawing concurrent viewership of over 1,000 users. Moving forward, Hello Meghalaya intends to broadcast musical and other major events live, expanding access for rural audiences unable to attend in person.
In the upcoming phase, Meghalayan Age Limited will be supporting local filmmakers and artists in creating exclusive high-quality content for the platform. Discussions are already underway to fund new projects, giving young creators, music video producers, and influencers opportunities to showcase their work through contests and competitions.
The officer noted that citizen support has been instrumental to Hello Meghalaya’s rapid success. He encouraged residents to register on the platform to support local creators, emphasizing that each view contributes directly to the growth of local talent.
