Heroin seized, two arrested by EKH-ANTF

SHILLONG: East Khasi Hills Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) seized 15 soap boxes containing suspected heroin weighing 183.49 grams and arrested two persons from the city here on Saturday. 

District police chief Claudia A Lyngwa said the heroin was seized from the house of one Sonmingla Hangboi and on his lead another lady identified as Jessica Mate was arrested. 

She said as per preliminary investigation, it appears that the bag containing suspected heroin was given to the boy by the lady for safekeeping. 

“Police are investigating the case further and thorough interrogation of the arrested accused so far is being done to ascertain the source of the suspected heroin,” she said. 

According to the SP, the police are not ruling out the possibility of more arrests as it appears to be a big drug cartel.
