High Court expects amicable solution to Mawjymbuin issue
The High Court of Meghalaya on Thursday asked the Dorbar Shnong Mawsynram (DSM) to resolve the issue of granting No Objection Certificate (NOC) for conducting the annual pilgrimage to Krem Mawjymbuin, Mawsynram.
The Court passed the direction on second day of hearing of the WP(C) No. 275 of 2024 filed the by Yatra Committee against the State of Meghalaya and eight other respondents after the Dorbar Shnong Mawsynram denied to issue NOC for conducting the annual pilgrimage to Mawjymbuin.
As directed by the Court on the first day of hearing the Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills District, the Superintendent of Police, East Khasi Hills District and three other respondents were present in person in the Court.
The Court its order said, “it is found necessary that some time be allowed as prayed by the respondent to try and resolve the issue in question with regard to the grant of the No Objection Certificate for conducting the annual pilgrimage to Krem Mawjymbuin, Mawsynram.”
The Court also listed the next hearing of the case on the 14th of this month to enable the parties to apprise the Court with regard to their decision. This Court expects that an amicable solution be arrived at before the next date.
