High Court warned to summon the physical appearance of Chief Secretary Meghalaya
The High Court of Meghalaya warned to order for the physical appearance of the Chief Secretary Meghalaya and the Commissioner & Secretary District Council Affairs Department, Meghalaya if there is still no representation from their side in the fourth hearing of the trial of the contempt of court petition.
The Court passed the order during the hearing of the contempt petition between the JHADC Staff Association versus Barcelona Bamon, Secretary JHADC, Chief Secretary Meghalaya and Commissioner & Secretary District Council Affairs Department the February 21, last.
The Court raised eye brows over the non-representation from the Meghalaya Government in trial of the contempt of court petition even till the third hearing.
The first hearing was held on December, last year followed by second hearing on February 6 this year.
According to the Court’s order, “Though service is complete on the other respondents namely; the Chief Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya and the Commissioner & Secretary, District Council Affairs Department, no appearance is made on their behalf.”
The order informed that the Court takes serious note of the same. “If no appearance is made on the next date, the said respondents will have to appear personally,” the Court said.
The Court granted another 2 (two) weeks’ time to file an affidavit as requested by the advocate representing Bamon.
