Himalayan Vultures hunt for food after two weeks of peaceful living in Lad Demthring
After two weeks of migrating to West Jaintia Hills District and making Lad Demthring as their time being settlement, Himalayan vulture (Gyps himalayensis) suddenly launched an attack for foods from the nearby meat stalls along the Dawki Amlarem Jowai Road on Tuesday afternoon.
The stalls selling both cooked and uncook meat have been there for the past several years.
This is the second time that the Himalayan vulture migrated to the same areas as it is located close by to the slaughter houses.
In view of the fact that the Himalayan Vulture has been categorized on International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List as near threatened Species, the Meghalaya Forest Department ban any attempt to endanger them and also kept their personnel for the safety of the birds.
There are 38 Himalayan vultures who migrated to Lad Demthring and they are living peacefully for two weeks due to the availability of foods but on Tuesday they hunted for foods from the nearby stalls.
