HITO asks Govt to state objective of Shah’s visit to Meghalaya
The Hynniewtrep Integrated Territorial Organization (HITO) has sought to know the purpose of the proposed visit of the Union Home Minister Amit Shah to the state next month.
“(We) would like to know from your end as the head of the state to come clear with the motives and purpose of the visit of Amit Shah to Shillong,” HITO president Donbok Dkhar said in a letter to Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Sunday.
He said the government should state the objective of Shah’s visit as the people of the state are in a state of confusion.
This came after the senior BJP leader and Health Minister AL Hek confirmed that Shah is scheduled to visit the state capital in the second week of July.
Hek however said that the issues and agendas to be raised during the visit of the union home minister will be discussed by the government.
Earlier this month, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma while informing about the proposed two-day visit of the union home minister had said that Shah would be meeting Chief Ministers of all the eight Northeast States to discuss several issues pertaining to the region.
The Assam CM had also informed that several issues including illegal drugs trade, border disputes between the Northeast States among others will be discussed by Home Minister Amit Shah with the Chief Ministers.
