HITO seek CM’s intervention over NEIGRIHMS order to charge Rs 10,000 per COVID-19 patient
The Hynniewtrep Integrated Territoria Organization (HITO) has sought the intervention of the state government into the decision of the North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health & Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS) hospital that COVID-19 patients have to deposit Rs 10,000 at the time of admission.
In a complaint submitted to the Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Sunday, HITO president Donbok Dkhar has expressed shock at the decision taken by the NEIGRIHMS authority.
An office order issued by the NEIGRIHMS Deputy Director (Admin) on May 19, states that “an amount of Rs 10,000 per COVID patient is to be deposited at the time of admission.”
“We urge you to take necessary steps to bring about and deliberate the best service to the people of the state as a whole, especially during the pandemic period,” Dkhar said.
He said the order issued by NEIGRIHMS also indicated that few selected pharmacy representatives should be presented at the reception to collect all data and related information of all the COVID-19 patients admitted to NEIGRIHMS.
It also stated that AAO (Outsource) MHIS is required to create a separate account for COVID-19 patients admitted for receiving the deposit, etc.
The HITO leader also alleged that the procedure and conduct of administration particularly relating to MHIS by some hospitals in the city are frustrated in nature due to their negligence and misleading the patient at some point of time.
