HNLC claims Wankupar retired but not surrender
SHILLONG: The proscribed Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC) on Friday claimed that its finance secretary Wankupar Marwein has not surrendered but has retired from the outfit.
Wankupar alias Bah Hep Traisiej (42), a resident of Mawlai Nonglum, surrendered before the director general of police (DGP) R Chandranathan at the police headquarters on February 12.
HNLC general secretary cum publicity secretary Sainkupar Nongtraw in a statement issued here on Friday however said, “…the recent surrender of our ex-finance secretary was actually not a surrender as appeared in the media, but it was his personal stand to retire from his duties as he had served the HNLC for the last twenty years.”
“His (Wankupar) retirement application letter was received two months back and it was then decided by the organization to relieve him of his duties,” he said while wishing Wankupar a good life and health ahead.
Meanwhile, Nongtraw informed that Marius Rynjah(Hepkhoit) has been appointed as the new finance secretary and Chandame Passah as the assistant finance secretary of the outfit.
