HNLC member arrested for planting IED bomb at NPP office
A member of the bandh Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC) was arrested on Thursday for his involvement in the recent planting of an IED bomb in front of the National People’s Party office.
Home Minister Lahkmen Rymbui told reporters that the accused person has been identified as Ksan Kharkongor from the Umphyrnai area.
He said that the arrest was made based on inputs and credible evidence.
“Preliminary investigation has revealed he (Kharkongor) was involved in placing the bomb in that area,” Rymbui added.

Asked, the home minister maintained that nothing can be solved through confrontation but it is only by negotiation within the parameters of the Constitution of India.
Assistant Inspector General of Police (A) GK Iangrai informed that the accused person was apprehended from Shillong Civil Hospital for his involvement in the incident.

He said in the course of investigation, the suspect admitted to his role and also stated that he is a member of the HNLC.
Incriminating evidence has been seized from his possession and investigation of the case is in progress, Iangrai stated.
