HNYF seek minister’s intervention into farmers’ issue
The Hynniewtrep National Youth Front (HNYF) has sought the intervention of the state’s agriculture minister Banteidor Lyngdoh to ensure inter-district and inter-state movement of vehicles carrying manure is not affected during the ongoing lockdown to combat COVID-19.
In a letter to the minister, HNYF office secretary Donbok Dkhar said that the farmers in the state are in urgent need of cowdung and other organic manure.
“We welcome an early intervention from the department to see that inter-state and inter-district movements of such vehicles carrying manure is not affected by the lockdown,” Dkhar said.
He also said that the farmers are also in need of other farming items such as spices seed, corn seed, cucumber seed, Tomato seed etc, Urea, Dithane Indofyl Gems, Dithane M-45 and Anaconda 505 etc.
“We also appeal the government to declare the maximum retail prices of these items to ensure that the farmers get the best deal,” he added.
Meanwhile, the HYNF also requested the minister to consider setting up a place in different districts for the farmers to sell their products in the upcoming month.
