HNYM sets 45-day ultimatum to MDA Govt to implement 80% job reservation for locals in private sectors

The Hynniewtrep National Youth Movement (HNYM) on Thursday served a 45-day ultimatum to the state government for coming up with a policy to ensure 80 percent job reservation to local youth in public sectors in the state.

The decision was taken after the activists of the HNYM and job aspirants took out a protest march from Barik to the Secretariat.

Addressing a small gathering, HNYM president Louis Dohtdong said, “We demand the state government to come up with a policy to ensure 80 percent job reservation for local youths in private sectors within 45 days.”

He said that a memorandum in this regard had been submitted to the Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma since July 1 but no positive response was received till today. He said the organization had also expected that the issue would be raised in the just concluded Assembly session but unfortunately none of the MLA took the pain to voice this very important issue that is affecting the local youth.

“This has compelled us to take out this protest march against the adamant attitude of the government,” he said.

Dohtdong further alleged that the increase number of drug users and rise of illegal activities is due to the failure of the government to have a policy in place to address the unemployment issues.
