HSLC results 2024: Anurag Doloi tops HSLC, pass percentage 77.3%
Anurag Doloi of Pragya Academy Senior Secondary School of Jorhat topped the High School Certificate (HSLC), the results of which were announced by the Board of Secondary Examination Assam (SEBA) on Saturday.
Anurag Doloi secured a total mark of 593.
Jharna Saikia of Shankardev Sishy Vidya Niketan, Biswanath Chariali secured the second top position by getting 590 marks in all subjects.
Manash Pratim Saikia of Island Academy, Kamalabari of Majuli got the third top position by securing 588 marks, while Bedanta Choudhury bagged the fourth top position by securing 588 marks and Devashree Kashyap of Ramanujam Senior Secondary School of Nagaon got the fifth top position by securing 588 marks.
Boys outshone girls in the HSLC exam. This time the pass percentage of boys is 77.3 per cent while that of girls is 74.4 per cent.
This time pass percentage is 75.7%. Of 317317 declared pass in the exam, 172046 are girls and 145263 are boys. There are also eight transgender who passed the exam.
The pass percentage for HSLC exams was 72.6% in 2023 and 56.4% in 2022.
105873 students secured first division, 150764 second division and 60680 got third division.
A total of 193159 students secured letter marks in 48 different subjects while a total of 26944 got star marks in the exam.
6888 students have been absent from the exam, the results of 361 were withheld and 61 students were expelled from the exam.
Chirang district topped the district-wise list bearing 91.2 per cent of passes, followed by Nalbari at 88.1% and Dima Hasao district recorded 87.3% of passes.
The lowest pass percentage was recorded by Udalguri district with 60.9%.
In a post on X, Assam Governor Gulab Chand Kataria wrote: “I extend my heartfelt congratulations to all the students who have successfully cleared the HSLC Examination 2024, marking a significant milestone in their academic journey. It is truly a testament to their dedication and perseverance.”
Assam chief minister Himanta Bioswa Sarma wrote: “Congratulations to all my young friends who have successfully passed their HSLC exam this year. I wish you all the best for a bright future ahead. For those who aren’t happy with the results, I want to tell them- one exam is NEVER a make-or-break exam. Life will always give you several more chances. Identify the numerous talents you are bestowed with and keep working hard! You will go places.”
