HSPDP to field Madalson from Mawkyrwat, asks Sohiong MLA to make his stand clear
The Hill State People’s Democratic Party (HSPDP) on Wednesday said it will not take action against its MLAs who are all set to join other political parties for contesting the 2023 assembly elections.
Speaking to reporters, HSPDP secretary Panborlang Ryntathiang said that the party is very broad minded and it doesn’t want to take any action against anybody since elections are also nearing.
He informed that the party had already announced its decision to field Medalson Lyngdoh Tongkhar as its official candidate from Mawkyrwat after its sitting legislator and cabinet minister Renikton Lyngdoh Tongkhar is all set to seek re-election from another political party.
“As of now he is HSPDP MLA but he will not be our candidate from Mawkyrwat in 2023,” he said.
He said that the party leaders had been trying to meet Malngiang but unfortunately he was not available.
“We have requested our vice president Martle Mukhim to meet him personally to know whether he will contest from our party or he will leave the party,” he said.
He said that the decision of its MLA to join the UDP will not affect the relationship within the RDA. He said the HSPDP will decide on whether not to be part of the RDA after elections next year.
