HYC asks the KSP to stop meddling with the affairs of Meghalaya

The Hynniewtrep Youth Council (HYC) on Thursday has slammed the Kutumba Surakshya Parishad (KSP) for its statement that religious intolerance and opposition of Christian group led to the recent clashes at Mawkynrew village over the construction of a school building.

In a statement, HYC president Roykupar Synrem said, “These kinds of statement are nothing but an attempt by this group to sow the seed of communal tension in our State and painting a wrong picture of the whole events without verifying the facts and as such should be condemned by one and all.”

“KSP should refrain from making such irresponsible statements as this would have far reaching repercussions to the peaceful coexistence of different faiths and communities in our State,” he said.

He added that ifact KSP should not view everything that happened in the State of Meghalaya to be anti- Hindu and concludes that it is a conspiracy by some religious groups against any particular religion.

“We call upon them to verify the facts first and then make a statement and not make derogatory or inflammatory statements first and then retract them later. We also called upon them to stop meddling too much into the affairs of our State,” Synrem stated.
