HYC demands NEIGRIHMS to put on hold recruitment process for nursing officers through NORCET-5
The Hynniewtrep Youth Council (HYC) on Friday demanded the North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS) to put on hold the recruitment process for nursing officers through the Nursing Officer Recruitment Eligibility Test (NORCET)-5.
In a letter to Director of the Institute, HYC president Robertjune Kharjahrin said, “This sudden deviation of NEIGRIHMS from the earlier practice of recruitment itself, is an attempt to deny the local indigenous youths of the State an opportunity to be recruited as Nursing officers in the Institute.”
He said as per information, AIIMS-New Delhi vide Notice dated 05.08.2023 have invited applications for the NORCET-5 for the recruitment of Nursing Officer posts for AIIMS New Delhi and other AIIMS as per available vacancies in the respective institutes.
The last date for submissions of online applications was till 5pm on 25.08.2023. The Examinations for the same were fixed to be held on September 17, 2023 {Online (CBT) for Stage I: NORCET Preliminary} and on October 7, 2023 {Online (CBT) for Stage II: NORCET Mains}.
“Suddenly, AIIMS New Delhi vide Notice-200/2023 dated 25.08.23 in its website informed that in continuation of the above stated Notice No. 146/2023, NEIGRIHMS, Shillong is now a participating institute of NORCET-5 and the last date for submission of online forms is extended till 28.8.2023. The List of Vacancies and eligibility criteria for recruitment of the Institute have not been specified.
Moreover, the Notice No. 200/2023 is only uploaded in the official website of AIIMS New Delhi and the time given for submission of Application forms is very limited not to speak about the fact that most of the local youths will be unaware of the said recruitment process in this short period of time,” he said.
Stating that this is a clear attempt to deny the local eligible youths to be appointed in the institute, Kharjahrin said, “Therefore, we demand that the Notice No. 200/2023 issued by AIIMS New Delhi be cancelled and the Recruitment process through NORCET be put on hold for the time being.”
“We also demand that NEIGRIHMS should give prior and wide publicity to the public before adopting such a new process and also provide awareness programs to the youths in the State for appearing in such Recruitment processes. It is also demanded that any advertisement/notice of recruitment in the future should be given in the local newspapers for wide publicity,” he added.
Meanwhile, the HYC has threatened to resort to agitational programs if the NEIGRIHMS authority refused to pay heed to its demand.
Risakmen Kharsati says
This demand is baseless.
1.first of all , Neigrihms is a central government hospital, where all Indians can work in it , n plus if you look back in the last recruitment exam also , the ST seats were less only n we have to fight for the general seats . so, we just need to study hard and prepare well for the exam. i don’t think Neigrihms will deny any local people to work in it .
2. I feel like Neigrihms are being fair by taking nursing Officers through Norcet. There’s more transparency in it. In addition to that , it will be easy for us nurses only .we won’t have to apply separately and less wastage of money for the application form .
Balakyntiew Kharshandi says
💯it’s actually being fair and square.

What Rikmen said is correct. As the nurses work in other central government hospital outside the state so also other nurses from other states are coming n working here… And by allowing neigrihms to take nursing officers through NORCET it will make more chance for our own people if we passed through open category to remain and work in our own state… What we have to do is we have to work hard and aim for open category not only reservation quota.
Balakyntiew Kharshandi says
The seat for all reservations are being calculated as per the rates of government reservation policy. Conducting the exam through NORCET does not affect anything.

I agreed with Risakmen.I think there will be a fair chance this time. The Exam which was Conducted by NEIGRIHMS there was no proper seating arrangement and Candidates can choose there seat according to there Convenience and discuss in the exam.Though this is not the case in all the exam centre..Thankyou

i agree to the above statement that Mr. Risakmen posted and my reasons are as follows,
1. As NEIGRIHMS is a central government hospital so all indians have the right to apply anywhere and work anywhere in India.
2. There will be less rumors about bias of the local people preferring/favouring only the local people.
3. NEIGRIHMS will have a chance to develop further and there will be less unwanted events/news where doctors or nurses are not attending patients well or on time.
4. It will initiate the students to work harder and be able to compete for higher education right from the time of training of their courses, thus more hardwork results better nurses.
5. NEIGRIHMS cannot always be a heaven for the local people or for the reserved category, the world is changing and sooner or later we will have to adopt to new rules and regulations so better be now than to be late.
Above all i believe NEIGRIHMS should have taken this initiative much earlier and that it needs to welcome new opportunities for the development and growth of the institute. “what comes easy wont last, and what last wont come easy”.

I wish state government jobs are fair and square by not allowing the MLAs to involve in job recruitment.

I have been working in different AIIMS in other parts of India, I see how the Nursing Officers there, they are preparing for the competitive exam, and they have much less contact with foreign language i.e, English and they are able to crack NORCET, in the other hand, I see so much capabilities in our people BUT how relax our people are, it is the way we are raise in a culture, they don’t study hard for the job and they are easily satisfied with what they have, these are danger signs we should look AND we should help and encourage each other instead…
Instead of fighting to excess to the Institute of the Nation by all the citizens , we instead should work harder to hold the position in our own place or else we just have to blame those in power…
I emphasis especially for those who can still fight for UnReserved category , 30years, they will have to try harder..
This is a competitive world afterall.

from my side i was disappoint about this because in a very short period of time , they advertised the recruitment , what the hyc said is very true through this norcet exam i can gurantee very less from local people will get through it should be done seperately as before .
