HYC threatens protest against MPSC’s delay to declare results of typist posts
The Hynniewtrep Youth Council (HYC) on Wednesday demanded the Meghalaya Public Service Commission (MPSC) to immediately declare the results for the posts of typists (ordinary grade), which were advertised since the year 2016 failing which, they will be compelled to call for agitations.
The MPSC had invited applications for filling up of various posts vide advertisement dated April 26, 2016. On November 18, 2020, all applicants were informed that the screening test was to be held on December 10, 2020 in different centres at Shillong and Tura.
The results of the screening test were declared on February 21, whereby the successful candidates were informed that the date(s) for the typing speed test will be intimated later. Thereafter, on March 8, 2022 it was informed that the typing speed test was held on March 29, 2022 and March 30, 2022 at government Industrial Training Institute Rynjah, Shillong.
However, on April 12, 2023, the MPSC issued a notice informing that the results for the recruitment to the said posts is kept on hold as the roster for the same has not been received from the government and that it will be notified as and when the same is received by the commission.

In a letter to the MPSC chairman, HYC president Roy Kupar Synrem said, “However, more than 7 years have passed since the advertisement was called for, more than 3 years since the date of the Screening Test, almost 2 years since the Speed Test was Conducted and almost a year since the last Notice issued by the Commission but till date the Recruitment Results for the above Posts have not been declared by the Commission.”
“This act of delay in declaration of results by the Commission raises serious doubts about the transparency in the whole process of recruitment as well as has affected the applicants both mentally and economically. Prolonged delay will also lead to a major problem of over-aging of the majority of these applicants in the future,” he said.
“Therefore, we strongly demand that the Commission should take necessary steps to declare the list of Successful candidates for the Recruitment to the Posts of Typists (Ordinary Grade) in the Office of the Heads of Department (26th April 2016) at the earliest and complete the whole process of recruitment within a considerable period of time,” Synrem stated in the letter.
He also warned, “Failing which we will have no option but to agitate and hold protest programs against the Commission and the State Government.”
