I am with NPP and not ready to entertain discussion on going back to Congress: Ampareen
NPP leader and cabinet minister Ampareen Lyngdoh on Thursday said that she will not entertain any discussion on whether she is ready to go back to the grand old party – the Congress.
Speaking to media persons, Lyngdoh said, “I don’t think that I am interested in any such conversation with anyone. Right now I am with the NPP. I will give the NPP the best of my capabilities. I will not distract myself from any distraction of this nature. I will serve the people of my state and the people of my constituency and I will attend to any extraordinary circumstances as and when the situation arises.”
“I have served during my tenure in various capacities to the best of my ability to all political parties that I have been in. My father also went through many changes in his life because of that requirement of time. We have always been dedicated to whichever political party that we associate ourselves with. If somebody is trying to woo us, we are unaware and we have no information. I am one and a half years into my next term. Why are people interested in having an election again? Why don’t you allow us to first do our work?” she asked.
Lyngdoh was one among the five former MLAs of the Congress, who were suspended for their decision to support the BJP backed NPP-led MDA-1 government, ahead of 2023 Assembly polls.
The minister also stated, “But you must admit that I saw the writing on the wall and I had predicted that one day everyone will leave ship from one party because they did not attend to our needs, requirements and suggestions in a democratic manner.”
Stating that she would not indulge in any matters relating to the Congress, the senior woman legislator said, “I am NPP written on my forehead. I am not permitted, it would be incorrect and I would not indulge. I am now very happy and I appreciate everything that is happening in the MDA and I see no reason why I should entertain any other discussion with anyone.”
She also stated on whether the Congress requires a good captain or not that is for them to decide.
“I have appreciated all parties that I have been with. They all had their own focuses. I believe that we need to make sure that we know what we are doing and by the looks of it, I think I was correct in some of the major political decisions to be taken at the right time,” she added.
