I-League: Shillong Lajong and Sreenidi Deccan battle to a draw
Shillong Lajong and Sreenidi Deccan played to an exciting 2-2 draw in the I-League clash at SSA Stadium in Shillong on Tuesday.
The match unfolded as an end-to-end attacking spectacle right from the initial whistle. Within the first 10 minutes, Sreenidi took the lead as Rosenberg Gabriel found the net in the 7th minute. However, Lajong swiftly responded, with Ronney Willson Kharbudon equalizing in the 24th minute through a beautiful assist from Sangti Janai Shianglong.
Having leveled the score, Lajong seized the momentum and went on the offensive. They managed to take the lead in the 34th minute, thanks to a goal from their Japanese forward, Takuto Miki. By halftime, Lajong held a 2-1 advantage.
In the second half, Lajong attempted to control the tempo, but Sreenidi persisted, creating pressure that led to an equalizer in the 63rd minute, with Rosenberg Gabriel scoring his second goal of the match. The game remained evenly contested and thrilling, with both teams unable to capitalize on their chances. Ultimately, the match concluded in a 2-2 draw at full time.
With this result, Shillong Lajong now has three draws, accumulating 3 points from three matches. Their attention now turns to the upcoming game against Gokulam Kerala FC from Kerala, scheduled for Sunday at 2 pm at the SSA Stadium in Shillong.
