I-League: Shillong Lajong secures second win, defeats Delhi FC 2-1
Shillong Lajong pick up their second straight win in the I-League by defeating Delhi FC with a 2-1 scoreline at the SSA Stadium, Shillong.
In the battle of two promoted sides Lajong dominated the game and kept the pressure on Delhi from the start and it was until the 24th minute when they open the scoring through their Senegalese forward Karim Samb with a wonderful assist made by Kynsaibor Lhuid.
Lajong continue with their attacking display but could not convert their chances and were leading by a solitary goal at the half time whistle.
In the second half Lajong continue to dominate with their attacking style of play but they could not capitalise their chances, Delhi took advantage of the situation and scored the equaliser through Gaurav Rawat in the 60th minute.
Lajong players once again hold their nerves and came back stronger after conceding the goal, they took the lead in the 82nd minute through Phrangki Buam which is also the winning goal.
After defeating Delhi FC this win propelled Lajong to fourth place in the table with nine points from two wins and three draws. Delhi FC, meanwhile, are sixth in the table, with seven points from five outings.
For their next assignment, Shillong Lajong FC will play their fifth home game on the trot against bottom side TRAU FC on November 25 at 2pm at the SSA Stadium, Shillong.
