‘I used to beat up non-tribal’ says Tynsong
Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong has revealed that he used to beat up non-tribals in the late 1970s.
“I have to confess that I have beaten up many non-tribals,” Tynsong said while recalling that 1979 as the year of revolution.
The deputy chief minister was addressing at a function to mark the 12th anniversary of the Hynniewtrep Achik National Movement (HANM) on Saturday.
“Sometimes as youth we are being misled as the emotions are so strong,” he said.
Stating that laws are already in place to protect the people and the state, Tynsong also assured that more effective laws will also be brought through the state legislative assembly.
“However, it is pointless to have many laws if our family is not strong from within,” he said while asserting the need for post-mortem examination of the family.
“I also urge everybody including NGOs to let us all find a solution as I see this as a cancer and that it needs a cure,” Tynsong added.
The deputy chief minister also appealed to the NGOs to give their suggestions on various issues that are concerning the state.
Later, Tynsong also launched the HANM’s official website and released its souvenir and documentary film.
Also present on the occasion were South Shillong legislator Sanbor Shullai, KHADC chairman Pyniaid Sing Syiem , KSU president Lambokstarwell Marngar, HYC president Robertjune Kharjahrin and others.
