IED Blast accused & 3 others arrested for extortion charge in East Jaintia Hills
Four miscreants including two juveniles were arrested on Monday for extortion charge from one resident of Lumshnong Village, East Jaintia Hills District.
Police said that on Saturday last an unknown person demanded money from one resident of Lumshnong and also threatened to eliminate him if he did agree to pay them.
Police said on Monday the said resident was tailed and at around 3:00 PM, he was found parking at Dosti Hotel, Ladrymbai when two suspects jumped into his vehicle.
Sensing the commission of a cognizable crime, the police nabbed the two persons.
Police said the two suspects revealed that they were collecting money on behalf of someone who befriended them on facebook.
Police said on Tuesday at around 6.00 Pm, police team apprehended Issei Sungoh of Dkhiah East (Ladsutnga) from his residence.
Police said Sungoh made the phone calls to the victim and also befriended the two suspects on facebook and directed them to collect the demanded money from the victim.
Issei Sungoh was arrested earlier by East Jaintia Police as one of the main accused in the IED explosion case at Khliehriat Police Reserve in the year 2021. Later on he was released on bail.
Lumshnong PS Case No 44(08)2023 U/s 386/120 B IPC has been registered against the four persons namely Daruis Pakem -19 yrs from Moolaitbri Sumer, East Jaintia Hills, Issei Sungoh -29 yrs from Dkhiah East (Ladsutnga) and the two juveniles whose names were withheld.
