IG BSF meets CM Conrad Sangma, discusses border security and coordination

Inspector General of BSF Meghalaya Frontier, OP Upadhyay, met Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma on April 4 to discuss key border security concerns and strengthen coordination with state agencies.
During the meeting, the IG BSF expressed appreciation for the state administration and police’s support and briefed the Chief Minister on the security scenario along the Indo-Bangladesh border in Meghalaya. He outlined BSF’s efforts to curb smuggling, trans-border crimes, and illegal infiltration.
The Chief Minister acknowledged BSF’s critical role in securing the international border and highlighted the importance of continued collaboration, intelligence sharing, and community involvement to ensure lasting peace and safety.
They also discussed developmental needs of border villages and agreed on enhancing joint efforts between BSF, state departments, and local communities. The IG reaffirmed BSF’s commitment to national security and assured full cooperation in maintaining law and order.
