IIM Shillong launches 15-Day Artist Residency Program
IIM Shillong recently commenced its 16th Batch of the Two-year full-time Post Graduate Program (PGP 2023-25) and Doctoral Program (2023), and the campus has become more vibrant with the launch of the 15-Day Artist Residency Program at the Umsawli campus on Sunday.
This program brings together ten accomplished artists from diverse institutions across the country, who will reside alongside the MBA students of the 2023 batch. This unique opportunity immerses the artists in an environment filled with hope, aspirations, expectations, and excitement.
The inauguration ceremony witnessed the presence of esteemed guests, including Prof. D. P. Goyal, the Director of IIM Shillong, Prof. Rohit Dwivedi, Chair of Student Affairs, and Samindranath Majumdar, the highly regarded Curator of the Artist-Residency Program.
The entire IIM Shillong community eagerly gathered to witness this momentous occasion, showcasing their anticipation and enthusiasm for this remarkable initiative. The ceremony set the stage for the days ahead, providing a glimpse into the enriching experiences that await. It underscored the potential of the Artists Residency Program, promising a vibrant and creative environment for both the artists and the MBA students.
Discussions during the ceremony primarily revolved around the ‘Significance of art in our lives and its profound impact on our perspectives of the world’. Prof. D. P. Goyal Director IIM Shillong, also emphasized how art breathes life into objects and creates powerful experiences that resonate with individuals. The curator of the program, Shri Samindranath Majumdar, and Rohit Dwivedi addressed the students, stressing the importance of engaging with art through reading and developing an appreciation for aesthetics. The event was conducted by Zeitgeist, the art, literary, quizzing, debating, and activities club of IIM Shillong. The entire IIM Shillong community eagerly anticipates the remarkable artwork that will be produced during the program.

Furthermore, IIM Shillong on Friday organized its Commencement Ceremony to welcome the 16th Batch of the Two-year full-time Post Graduate Program (PGP 2023-25) and Doctoral Program (2023). The ceremony marked the beginning of a new academic journey. The PGP batch comprises 390 students, while the Doctoral Program has 17 enrolments.
Prof. K K Aggarwal, the Chief Guest, delivered an inspiring speech highlighting the importance of collaboration, practical application of knowledge, sustainability, and creative innovation.
Ranjan Kumar Mohapatra, the Special Guest, emphasized the significance of lifelong learning, diversity, adaptability, and empowerment in his address.
Prof. D P Goyal, the Director of IIM Shillong, extended a warm welcome to the students, emphasizing the institute’s dedication to nurturing global leaders with Indian values.
The PGP enrollment showcased remarkable diversity, with 51.6% female participants and significant representation from North East India. IIM Shillong takes pride in its inclusive environment, fostering cross-cultural exchange and collaboration among students from 27 states across the country.
