ILP demand, a matter of discussion: BJP

BJP national vice president and in-charge Meghalaya, Dr M Chuba Ao said the demand for the inner-line permit (ILP) is a matter of discussion.

“We need thorough discussion because (its) implementation requires a lot of consultation,” Dr Ao told reporters on Wednesday.

He also emphasized on the need to study the reason for people to demand ILP and whether it will disturb or hamper the system.

Asked, Dr Ao however said the party is yet to discuss whether ILP is necessary in Meghalaya.

It may be mentioned here that the two BJP MLAs had supported the resolution passed by the state Assembly for urging the Centre to implement the ILP in Meghalaya.
