Implementation of central govt schemes in East Jaintia Hills reviewed
Union Minister of State, Ministry Of External Affairs and Education, Rajkumar Ranjan Singh on Friday chaired a meeting to review the central schemes implemented in the district at the conference room of the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, East Jaintia Hills District.
The review meeting was also attended by D.K. Singh, Officer on Special Duty to the Union Minister of State, A. Baranwal, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, East Jaintia Hills District, Khliehriat, S.S. Syiemlieh, MCS, Addl. Deputy Commissioner, East Jaintia Hills District, Khliehriat, the Block Development Officers of Wapung and Saipung C&RD Block, and Officers of the different departments of the District.
During the review meeting, Baranwal, presented a Power Point on the various central schemes implemented by different departments in the district.
The central schemes reviewed during the meeting were Ayushman Bharat, PMMVY, MGNREGA, PMAY-G, PM- KISAN, Jal Jeevan Mission(JJM), Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, Poshan Abhiyan, National Food Security Act (NFSA), PMGKAY, Mid Day Meal Scheme (Rice) and Swachh Bharat Mission- Gramin among others.
Addressing the gathering, Singh said that some of the schemes given by the government are well delivered.
He, however, pointed more awareness needs to be given on several schemes relating to the women’s groups in particular and the society as a whole.
He also mentioned that education is the right of every citizen and to deliver as per the constitution of India.
He stressed that it is the duty of the District Administration and more specifically the Education Department to try and improve the facilities of education to the community of this District.
The Union Minister of State also appealed to the District Administration and the Officers of the concerned departments of the District to provide a basic level of learning to the women’s groups so as to empower them.
Singh earlier visited Iongkaluh Village and inspected the Check Dam constructed under the MGNREGA in convergence with Meghalaya Basin Development Authority and the houses constructed under PMAY-G Scheme.
He also visited Moolamylliang Village, where he planted a tree sapling and interacted with the members of the Self Help Group (SHG).
He also attended a Financial Literacy Camp held at Rymbai village and interacted with the beneficiaries on several central schemes such as Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana (PMJDY), MGNREGA Job Card, Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY), and Pradhan Mantri MUDRA Yojana (PMMY), among others.
