India to resume trade with Bangladesh along Meghalaya Border
The District Magistrate, West Jaintia Hills has issued an order informing that Border Trade with Bangladesh through Land Customs Station, Tamabil, Dawki will be re-opened from from 9th July, 2020 subject to strict compliance and adhering to the Standard Operating Procedure for export issued by the Commissioner & Secretary to the Govt. of Meghalaya, Commerce and Industries Department.
The order has also mentioned that the vehicles will be allowed to ply on Odd and Even basis in accordance with the Traffic Regulation prepared by the Additional Deputy Commissioner, in charge Amlarem (Civil) Sub-Division
Vehicles with odd numbers (1, 3, 5, 7 and 9) are allowed to ply on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and vehicles with even numbers (0, 2, 4, 6 and 8) on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
In addition, the District Magistrate has instructed all to strictly adhere to the guidelines prescribed by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India and Ministry of Health& Family Welfare, Government of India. Failure to comply with the SOPs shall result in immediate closure of the Operation of the Border Trade through Land Custom Station Tamabil, Dawki, West Jaintia Hills District without prior notice.
