Indian Association of Special Libraries and Information Centres’s National Seminar begins
The 29th Indian Association of Special Libraries and Information Centres (IASLIC), National Seminar commenced from Wednesday at the Multi-Use Convention Hall, NEHU Campus, Shillong.
Organized by the Central Library, NEHU, Shillong in collaboration with the IASLIC, Kolkata the seminar was inaugurated by Dr. W.R. Kharlukhi, Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha in the presence of Prof. Prabha Shankar Shukla, Vice-Chancellor, NEHU and other dignitaries.
The IASLIC Special Award was presented to T. Padmavathi, Pr. Tech Officer, FOSTIS/Library CSIR-Central Food Technol. Res. Institute (CFTRI), Mysuru 20, India in recognition of her as a renowned and meritorious serving library professionals.
Abhijit Kumar, General Secretary, IASLIC gave a concise introduction of the theme of the seminar, followed by a formal address by Prof. Sanjay K. Singh, Vice President, IASLIC Zone 5.
Prof. Prabha Shankar Shukla, Vice-Chancellor, NEHU, in his capacity as the Chairman of the programme delivered the Chairman’s Remarks.
Dr. F.R. Sumer, University Librarian, NEHU & Organizing Secretary welcomed the gathering while a welcome song presented by the Research Scholars of the Department of Library & Information Science, NEHU. Dr. (Mrs.) J. J. Thabah, Assistant Professor, Department of Library & Information Science, NEHU, Shillong proposed a vote of thanks.
To raise a concern about the ongoing environmental issues, tree saplings were planted outside the Multi-Use Convention Hall by the dignitaries present.
