In midst of the 21st century, the importance of electricity in the daily life of humans has become a basic need. To not possess it appears to be unfortunate, hence, the significance of electricity has become a necessity for a human in the modern world.
In April 2018, Prime Minister Modi had officially announced that “every single village of India now has access to electricity” but this small village in Jaintia Hills, Meghalaya contradicts this statement as it has no electricity for over 8-9 years.
According to the Jaintia Youth Federation, East Jaintia Hills (JYF-EJH) and the Hynniewtrep Youth Council, East Jaintia Hills(HYC-EJH), they informed the Executive Engineer of MePDCL, Khliehriat Distribution Division, regarding the oversight of providing electricity to the village Suchen, located in Khliehriat Block of East Jaintia Hills District, on March 8.
The MePDCL, Khliehriat Distribution Division on visiting the village along with leaders of the JYF and HYC has assured electricity connections through the scheme Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana (Saubhagya) to the village of 150 households, therefore, making efforts to correct the years of negligence.
