India’s first female downhill rider Anissa Dariti Lamare from Meghalaya selected for Asian Championships
Anissa Dariti Lamare, India’s first female downhill mountain bike rider, is one of three mountain bikers from Meghalaya who have earned a spot on the Indian Downhill Team for the upcoming Asian Continental Championships.
The competition will be held in Trivandrum, Kerala, from October 26th to 29th.
Joining Anissa are two more athletes Apshai Griffith Niangti and Meban Aiboklang Suiam under Men Elite DH rider. Kevin John Khyllait, a cross-country rider, will also undergo training at the camp. Subsequent selections will determine the final XC Indian Team.
This historic achievement marks the first time that cyclists and mountain bikers from Meghalaya have been selected to represent India on such a platform, said the statement.
The Cycling Federation of India will be conducting a training camp for the selected athletes, which is scheduled to run from September 9th to September 30th. Athletes are required to stay in Kerala from the start of the camp until the conclusion of the Asian Championships.
In total, 37 bikers have been selected for this prestigious event, hailing from various regions including the Army Adventure Wing and states such as Assam, Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Manipur, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, and West Bengal.
