Innovative projects shine at West Jaintia Hills Science Exhibition

A one-day District Level Science, Mathematics and Environment exhibition organized by the Office of the District School Education Officer, West Jaintia Hills, was held on Thursday at Jowai Public School under the theme “Science and Technology for Society.”
The prize distribution event was graced by Deputy Commissioner BS Sohliya, IAS, as Chief Guest. Inspecting the exhibition on display, he interacted with the students. AP Syiem, District School Education Officer, Jowai, along with teachers, was also present.
The students were urged to cultivate an interest in studying science, emphasizing its importance for personal growth and career opportunities.
Eleven schools participated in the competition on different sub-themes. Weimaya Nongtdu Lakiang from North Liberty Higher Secondary School won the first prize for her project on the sub-theme “Testing the Acidity and Basicity of the Soil Using Natural Indicators (Agriculture).”
The second prize was awarded to Ayesha Pale from Jowai Public School, Jowai, for her project on the sub-theme “Demonstration and Use of Traditional Methods of Medication (Health).”
The third prize went to Janmishaki Nongtdu from Jaintia Higher Secondary School, Jowai, for his project on the sub-theme “Floating River Cleaner (LIFE: Lifestyle for Environment).”
