Inter-District movement & shops permitted to open in East Jaintia Hills District

The District Magistrate, East Jaintia Hills District informs the general public that in pursuance to the Government order and the order issued by the Transport Department, Government of Meghalaya, the following activities are permitted in East Jaintia Hills District with immediate effect:

These activities include all shops from fixed premises excluding barber shops, beauty parlours and saloons. Also permitted are courier services for all goods and E-Commerce operations in all Goods.

Furthermore, 50% of private and public transport is also permitted to operate in East Jaintia Hills District on rotation basis and permission has also been given for Inter- District movement of persons.

The District Magistrate also said that in order to ensure uniformity in the plying of Public & Private transport vehicles in the District which also includes Inter- District movement,arrangement has been made based on the vehicle registration number ending with Odd and Even. Vehicles with the registration number ending with odd numbers will be allowed to ply on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Whereas, vehicles with registration number ending with even numbers will be allowed to ply on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. On Sunday, only private vehicles with both odd and even ending number will be allowed to ply.

In addition, the vehicles are to strictly utilized only 50% seating capacity, small 4(four) wheelers to ply with 2(two) passengers and for two wheelers pillion rider is restricted only to female or child below the age of 12 years. The driver and passenger are to strictly ensure social distancing wearing of mask at all times, use of gloves, hand sanitizers and to strictly follow all other advisories of Health & Family Welfare Department.

Violation of any norms and advisories of the Government in the Health & Family Welfare Department and the Office of the District Magistrate, East Jaintia Hills District will be liable to action as per the Law.
