IPS officer Parthasarathi Mahanta, serving as the Inspector General of Police in Assam, has been appointed as an Honourary Fellow by the Indian Institute of Technology’s (IIT) Centre for Indian Knowledge Systems (CIKS). This accolade highlights his significant contributions to society and aligns him with the Pandit Hemchandra Goswami Mission for the Popularisation of Science and Assamese Culture.
The mission, initiated by Dr. Naba Goswami, a noted US-based medical professional and grandson of Pandit Hemchandra Goswami, seeks to bridge science and culture through various programs. These include STEM workshops, seminars, cultural and language programs, and collaborative projects.
Dr. Naba Goswami also chairs the Pandit Hemchandra Goswami Foundation, a key supporter of the initiative.
Under the leadership of Prof. Uday S. Dixit, head of CIKS at IIT, the mission aims to inspire students by fostering scientific inquiry while staying connected to Assamese cultural heritage. Parthasarathi Mahanta’s expertise and dedication to public service are expected to further enrich the mission, promoting a balanced blend of academic and cultural excellence among students.
