ISRO scientist Dr Sundara Murthy enlightens students at USTM workshop
Distinguished ISRO (Indian Space Research Organisation) scientist Dr. T.K. Sundara Murthy on Tuesday provided an in-depth look into ISRO’s history, technological advancements, and future missions during a workshop titled “Recent Achievements of ISRO in Space Physics,” organized by the University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM).
Hosted by the university’s Physics Department, the workshop highlighted ISRO’s recent accomplishments, including landmark missions like Chandrayaan and Gaganyaan.
Dr. Murthy, who has dedicated over four decades to ISRO and led successful communication satellite missions (EUTELSAT, HYLAS, and AVANTHI) as Mission Director, discussed the pivotal role of space physics in both scientific and practical applications.
He emphasized how satellite technology aids climate monitoring, disaster response, and urban planning, showcasing ISRO’s contributions to everyday life through space research.
Accompanied by S. Bharathi Murthy and Pranesh Debnath from Vyomika Space, Dr. Murthy also explored exciting upcoming ISRO missions and encouraged students to consider research opportunities in space science.
The interaction session allowed students to ask questions about careers in space research and the impact of international collaborations, with Dr. Murthy providing insights to inspire future researchers.
